Position Description
This is an Assistant Chief Insurance Examiner position with the B&I Division of Insurance, Corporate & Financial Affairs section (C&F) in the Carson City office. C&F is responsible for the following as pertain to insurers: Company licensing, financial statement analysis, holding company analysis, collateral management, financial examinations, receivership processes, strategic planning, new product/program implementation, and maintenance of corporate records. The incumbent will report to the Chief Insurance Examiner who is responsible for all activities of the section. The incumbent will be primarily responsible for establishing and updating policies and procedures for the examination team, exam budgeting and billing, and supervising the review of examination workpapers for all domestic insurers and other insurance related entities in accordance with Nevada statute and regulation, C&F policies and procedures, the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) risk-focused financial condition examiners handbook, and accreditation standards. The incumbent will be responsible for supervising contract examinations staff.
Insurance Examiners perform professional work in verification and analysis of the financial condition/solvency and market conduct examination of providers of insurance and related products in the State.

Minimum Qualifications

Certification as a Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) issued by the Society of Financial Examiners and one year of experience supervising financial and market conduct examinations.

- The exam will consist of an application and resume evaluation. It is essential that applications/resumes include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. Informational Notes
- Current designation as a Senior Professional Insurance Regulator (SPIR) issued by NAIC is equivalent to five years of professional experience. This credential must be attached to the application to receive the credit for experience.
- Current certification/designation/licensure as a Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) issued by the SOFE; Certified Insurance Examiner (CIE) issued by IRES; Chartered Life Underwriter issued by ACFS; or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) are equivalent to three years of professional experience. The credential must be attached to the application to receive the credit for experience.
- Current certification/designation/licensure as an Accredited Insurance Examiner (AIE) issued by IRES; Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) issued by the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research; or Accredited Financial Examiner (AFE) issued by SOFE are equivalent to two years of professional experience. The credential must be attached to the application to receive the credit for experience.

- The Assistant Chief Insurance Examiner requires certification as a Certified Financial Examiner (CFE) by the Society of Financial Examiners at the time of application and as a condition of continuing employment.
