Position Description

Economists prepare and conduct research, analysis and studies of economic, social, fiscal and other factors in relation to topic of study. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced-level work and may provide work direction and training to others.

The Economist 3 position is located in Carson City with the Department of Taxation with Taxation's Executive Division and will provide research, data and statistical analysis, forecasting and related services to the Department. Applicants should have a strong background in economic forecasting, statistical analysis, data validation, and projections and forecasting in general.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in economics, labor economics, econometrics, statistics or a related field and three years of professional experience in conducting statistical/economic data collection, analysis and research involving the application of advanced statistical, mathematical and economic principles and research modeling; OR one year of experience as an Economist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

• The exam will consist of an application and resume evaluation. It is essential that applications/resumes include detailed information with time frames regarding education and experience. The most qualified applicants will be contacted by the hiring agency for interview. The hiring agency may require specific skills related testing as part of the interviewing process.
