Position Description

 

This position is with the Department of Administration, State Public Works Division, Buildings and Grounds Section, located in Carson City and reports directly to the Facility Manager; this position also supports the Las Vegas Buildings and Grounds Section. Statewide travel in support of the Las Vegas Buildings and Grounds operations is required.

Electricians perform skilled electrical work to troubleshoot, diagnose, maintain and repair electrical systems and equipment.  Incumbent must possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform advanced level work and may provide work direction and training to others.  Electricians apply logical and systematic problem-solving skills when responding to Work Orders, performing and/or implementing Preventive Maintenance work, and estimating cost of repairs and new construction.  Incumbent must be able to read, correct, and maintain blueprints. The incumbent must have and maintain a valid Driver's License. This position requires a flexible work schedule to meet the needs of the department; for emergency situations (stand-by status); projects as they arise, and call backs. The incumbent must pass a criminal history check, which they are responsible to pay for, in qualifying to fill this position. The incumbent must be able to work with and supervise inmates.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized electrician apprenticeship program followed by one year of journey level electrician experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Special Requirements

  • A pre-employment criminal history check and fingerprinting are required.
  • A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continued employment.
  • This position may be required to work Nights/Weekends/Holidays; Standby/Call Back and/or Flexible/Rotating Shifts.
