The Division of Welfare and Supportive Services (DWSS) is currently recruiting for an IT Professional 3 position in our Carson City office, which is situated less than 25 miles from both Reno and Lake Tahoe.  This position will be primarily responsible for maintaining and developing new applications in JAVA and/or ADHOC's (DB2) and helpdesk issues for DWSS.  The ideal candidate will have experience troubleshooting technical issues, working with critical production systems, and performing independent research to resolve technical issues.  Good customer service skills are required, as well as the ability to communicate with technical and non-technical personnel clearly and effectively. The candidate will need to possess superior documentation skills, including the ability to train others and the ability to function as a member in a collaborative team environment.  Duties include designing, coding and managing software modification projects, coordinating those projects with other work groups and documenting how to maintain those projects.  Incumbents perform advanced journey-level duties and may train and supervise staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned.

This position may offer the opportunity to work remotely within Nevada, with a limited requirement of in-office time (currently one day a month, subject to change).  Flexible and variable work schedules may be considered.  Details can be discussed in interview.  Work life balance is valued by this Division.  This Division encourages job training and skills advancement and as a benefit offers paid for training opportunities to all IT staff.

Incumbents perform advanced journey level duties and may train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of subordinate staff and/or serve as a project leader as assigned. Incumbents may function as a unit leader to include directing the activities of a branch IT support unit, overseeing projects of limited scope, and coordinating activities with other work groups.
