Position Description

 

This opening is for a Management Analyst 3 within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS), Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) Data Analytics office, in Carson City. 

 

The successful candidate will assist with various analytic and data-related projects, often focusing on data analysis for the Division of Health Care, Financing and Planning (DHCFP) including assisting with data requests related to DHCFP. Pulling data from the data warehouse and performing analysis are a required function of the legislative biennium budget process and ongoing biennium monitoring by DHCFP and DHHS leadership. This position is also responsible for providing routine and special reports, completing data linkages using both exact and probabilistic matching procedures, and using SAS, Cognos, DSS/DW or analytic software programming and statistical methods to complete analyses on Medicaid/Medicare-related data, health-related data, or other assigned data. This position requires the demonstrated use of statistical methods and programs utilizing SAS, Cognos, DSS/DW or similar analytic software. Under general direction, incumbents will conduct more complex, sensitive, investigative, and analytical studies that may involve any aspect of the agency’s operations. Additionally, positions in this class serve as first-line supervisors for lower-level Management Analysts or other professional staff. This position may require travel both in and out of state up to 20%.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience in the research, development, evaluation or revision of programs, organizations, methods or procedures; OR Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in public or business administration, finance, social sciences, mathematics or related field and three years of professional experience which included budgeting, accounting, and/or economic or management analysis and projections; OR graduation from high school or equivalent education and five years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a Management Analyst II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

  • Experience with SQL, SAS, R, Cognos, DSS/DW or other data query languages is required.
