Position Description

 

Public Service Interns receive training and complete a variety of assignments in staff activities directly relating to their major course of study while enrolled in an educational institution.

 

The Information Technology (IT) Public Intern will provide agency end-users with technical assistance, training, and support on computer-related issues. They will be helping users with hardware and software issues, both in person and remotely via telephone or email.

 

This is a part-time position working 20 – 30 hours weekly. Hours may include evenings and weekends. Occasional travel to other nearby worksites may be required.

The incumbent will identify, research, and resolve technical problems. This position may assist other IT technicians or professionals in the deployment of new equipment and software.  Sound judgment, decision making and troubleshooting skills are needed. Knowledge in Microsoft Office suite, Windows 10, website design, and website maintenance is needed. This position may assist with the hosting of video conferences.

 

SPECIAL NOTES:

 

1) Employment is not to exceed six months from the date of graduation.

 

2) Employment in this class will not lead to permanent status in State service.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or the equivalent and enrollment and continued successful performance in an academic program related to the field of employment at an accredited college or university.

  • Applicants must be currently enrolled in an undergraduate degree (e.g., associate's or bachelor's) program at an accredited college or university majoring in a computer related field. Transcripts MUST be attached to your application.

A valid driver's license or evidence of equivalent mobility is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
