Job Title:  SR PHYSICIAN (RANGE C) (EA)

Position Description

This is an open competitive recruitment; open to all qualified applicants.  This is a full-time, unclassified position that is appointed by and serves at the pleasure of the Medical Director, Nevada Department of Corrections, (NDOC). The annual salary range is $159,640 to $175,191; this range reflects the Public Employees Retirement System, (PERS), Employee/Employer contributions plan.

Under administrative direction of the Medical Director, the incumbent performs professional medical duties involving general examination, diagnosis and care and treatement; supervises medical services staff; and performs related work as required.  Prescribe medications by using standard pharmacological procedures in order to facilitate treatment and care of individual clients.

This position is located at Northern Nevada Correctional Center (NNCC), in Carson City, Nevada.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited school of medicine approved by the Board of Examiners, with one year of internship in an approved hospital and three years of experience in the practice of medicine or an equivalent combination of both; OR completion of an appropriate residency approved by the American Medical Association; OR an equivalent combination substituting each year of resident training for a year of medical practice; OR board eligibility in a medical specialty; OR board certification in a medical specialty.

A valid license to practice medicine in the State of Nevada is required at the time of appointment and must be maintained throughout employment withou interruption.
