Position Description

State Land Agents conduct a broad range of real estate transactions related to State lands, leases, water rights, mineral rights, easements, navigable water management, and acquisition and sale of land, water rights and development rights within statutory authority and in accordance with established real estate principles, practices and ethical standards. 

 

This is an underfill for the State Land Agent 3. The incumbent may be automatically progressed upon the supervisor's approval and when minimum qualifications of the higher level have been met.

 

This position provides Land Agent services to the Nevada Department of Wildlife (NDOW). In close coordination with the Nevada Division of State Lands (NDSL) and NDOW management, the incumbent reviews and processes proposals related to the third-party use of Wildlife Management Areas and other state lands assigned to NDOW. The incumbent understands the agency’s long-term land needs, and facilitates acquisition and disposal of state land and land interests as needed. The incumbent conducts property research; uses mapping applications and tools to locate state land; secures contracts for and interprets surveys and appraisals; produces legal documents; and implements title, escrow, and recording procedures, among other duties. The incumbent manages multiple, concurrent projects, is an effective communicator, and provides service in a professional and timely manner and with the best interest of the State and use of State land in mind. The individual often conducts research in a variety of areas including historical property records, title, and review of state and federal laws related to State lands to produce reports and other associated documents.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, real estate, environmental or natural science, or related field and two years of professional experience in public lands management; real estate; escrow and title; property leasing, management or development; easements; property appraisal; or related field; OR graduation from high school or equivalent and four years of professional experience as described above; OR one year of experience as a State Land Agent I in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
