Position Description
The Division of Public and Behavioral Health: Rural Clinics (RC) is recruiting for a full-time Mental Health Counselor 2 position in Fernley, NV. Rural Clinics provides an array of outpatient behavioral health services for both adults and children in 16 clinics in 12 counties across Rural Nevada. Services are generally provided Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Services assist individuals to achieve self-sufficiency and recovery. Incumbent must be licensed and/or working towards licensure and, once licensed, it must be maintained, without lapses, and be in good standing with applicable boards. This clinic has been designated as a loan repayment site through the National Health Services Corps (NHSC), a program of the Health Research and Services Administration (HRSA). This position provides individual and group mental health therapy for persons who are mentally ill and/or emotionally disturbed. Services include, but may not be limited to: completing a screening to determine eligibility for services, psychosocial assessment, and other assessment tools to determine treatment needs, treatment plan, and progress notes that document the appropriate course of treatment at the least restrictive level possible. This position also works with the consumer and others to develop and monitor the treatment plan, including participation in team meetings and coordinating services among members of treatment team consumer support systems and community entities and evaluating treatment effectiveness.

Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree from an accredited college or university in counseling, marriage and family therapy, psychology, social work or closely related academic field and two years of post-master\'s degree professional mental health counseling experience; OR an equivalent combination of education and clinical experience at or above a Master's degree and experience as described above.

The incumbent must be actively working toward a valid professional counseling license (e.g., LMFT, LPC, LCSW) and/or have a current license as a condition of employment. Once licensed, the incumbent must remain in good standing with their applicable board.
