Position Description

 

The Silver State Health Insurance Exchange is seeking a Health Program Specialist 1, in the Henderson office location, who will serve as the community outreach liaison statewide in response to newly adopted responsibilities that the Communications Officer has taken on after the transition from HeatlhCare.gov to a fully autonomous state-based exchange, Nevada Health Link. This position will be under the supervision of the Communications Officer.

 

This position plays a large role in community relations and is responsible for executing Exchange outreach programs and projects with an intense focus on community outreach and coalition building. Major duties include developing and implementing outreach strategies for targeted, at-risk, uninsured and underinsured populations, collaborating with community partners statewide to provide education on the importance of having health insurance coverage and building awareness of the availability of health insurance subsidies to targeted populations. This position will establish and monitor performance indicators and benchmarks to evaluate outreach program success and the accomplishment of desired outcomes. They will create mutually beneficial community partnerships through event attendance and networking functions and meetings to cultivate targeted relationships with public, private and community partners for cross-promotional opportunities. This position will also be a communications representative to speak on behalf of Nevada Health Link from media inquiries. Under the direction of the Communications Officer, this position will be responsible for the oversight of statewide, Exchange directed outreach programs and projects, including creating an outreach strategic plan, event planning, participating on and providing support to various committees, advisory boards and other workgroups.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a health science, behavioral science or closely related field applicable to the program area and two years of health-related experience which included at least two of the following areas: researching, collecting and analyzing data and statistics, developing objectives, protocols and procedures; providing health education services to target groups or the general public; evaluating program effectiveness and accomplishment of desired outcomes to meet federal, agency or other standards and guidelines; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.

 

  • Applicants must be bilingual in English and Spanish. 
  • Experience developing outreach strategies is required.
