Position Description

The position supports Southern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services (SNAMHS) and will be assigned to the Mobile Crisis Team. Clinical Social Worker Interns provide clinical services to clients/inmates in an inpatient, correctional or similar setting. This recruitment may be used to underfill a CSW II vacancy. Incumbents receive training and gain experience while working toward licensure by the State of Nevada Board of Examiners for Social Work. Progression to the next level in the series may occur after meeting the minimum qualifications, satisfactory performance, and with endorsement of the appointing authority. Positions at this level receive direct supervision while performing all or part of the duties described in the series concept.

Applicants must be eligible for a Clinical Social Work Internship with the State of Nevada Board of Social Work Examiners.

On-site Clinical Supervision is available. This position requires a clinician who can travel in a reliable personal vehicle to Las Vegas valley hospitals to provide psychosocial assessments of patients who have been placed on psychiatric commitments. The assessment will include a mental status exam and risk assessment. The clinician will interact with hospital staff and make recommendations to ER or attending physicians to hold for admission to Rawson-Neal or discharge patients from their psychiatric commitment while providing all necessary referrals and discharge plans. The incumbent must function effectively as a part of a team of clinicians and interface effectively with other departments and staff of SNAMHS. The incumbent should work well in a fast-paced, high-stress environment.  The incumbent will be required to attend staff meetings and complete administrative tasks, including completing all required paperwork within 24 hours. Incumbent must be computer literate and familiar with Microsoft Word and Excel as assessments are completed and submitted electronically. Incumbents will also have knowledge on ensuring compliance with CMS standards, as well as established laws, regulations and SNAMHS policies.

SNAMHS vaccination protocol is based on the guidance from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA), and Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). State of Nevada staff who work with vulnerable populations in state-operated, licensed health care settings must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Employees who wish to seek religious or medical exemption must submit a request for accommodation to SNAMHS Human Resources for evaluation.
