Position Description

Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is currently recruiting for a fulltime Psychiatric Caseworker II in Las Vegas, Nevada.  This recruitment may be used to fill current and future vacancies as they occur in the Desert Regional Center - Intermediate Care Facility (DRC-ICF).  

 

The mission of the Aging and Disability Services Division (ADSD) is to provide leadership and advocacy in the planning, development and delivery of a high quality, comprehensive support service system across the lifespan to allow all of Nevada's elders, children and adults with disabilities or special health care needs, to live independent, meaningful and dignified lives to the greatest extent possible. Incumbent is responsible for overseeing case management services of 8-12 individuals with intellectual disabilities and related conditions, such as, Autism, Seizure Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, etc. who live at the Intermediate Care Facility. Incumbent must possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to acquire the skills to perform work independently with little additional training. Incumbent will perform a broad range of duties; developing, coordinating and monitoring the implementation of individual treatment activities to facilitate achievement of identified goals for the specific developmental and behavioral management of each individual. This position requires travel throughout the Las Vegas area.

 

Psychiatric Caseworkers monitor the treatment and progress of mentally ill or developmentally disabled clients, perform day treatment and psychosocial rehabilitation activities, and coordinate discharge and aftercare services, in an outpatient, inpatient, clinic, residential, treatment center, client's home and other community settings. Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in social work, psychology, or closely related human services field and two years of experience in a mental health or intellectual disabilities setting, one year of which must have included professional casework experience providing psychosocial rehabilitation services for a caseload consisting predominantly of individuals with mental illness or developmental disabilities; OR one year as a Psychiatric Caseworker I in Nevada State Service; OR an equivalent combination of experience and education above the bachelor's degree level.

Special Requirements

  • A valid driver's license is required at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment.
