Position Description
Conservation Aids assist professional staff in a variety of projects involving the conservation and preservation of the State's natural resources.
Incumbents possess a degree of knowledge and proficiency sufficient to perform work independently with little or no additional training.
Positions perform a variety of duties related to wildlife management, conservation, fish culture and wildlife ecology. Most positions are of a 3-month duration over the summer months, working four 10-hour days in the field and camping at remote location sites on the workdays. A few 6-9 month positions are also available.
The Fisheries Management Division has seasonal openings in the Elko, Ely, Fallon, Gallagher Hatchery, Las Vegas, Panaca, Reno, Winnemucca. All positions require a valid driver's license at the time of appointment and as a condition of continuing employment. Seasonal housing during the employment period for these positions is available in Winnemucca, Elko, Ely and Gallagher Hatchery at no cost. Applicant is responsible for securing housing at all other locations. Positions are being recruited at Conservation Aid 1, Conservation Aid 2, and Conservation Aid 3 levels.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from high school and one year of experience in resource conservation projects or wildlife management projects such as assisting with creel census, surveys, identifying fish and wildlife species, vegetation management or similar work; OR six months of experience as a Conservation Aid II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
