Position Description

Assist the Conservation Districts (CDs) in meeting their NRS and NAC requirements to stay in good standing with the State of Nevada Revised Statutes. Assist CDs with holding their monthly meetings, through helping with agendas, minutes, staff reporting, fiscal management, and other meeting duties as needed by the Conservation District board. The applicant should have a good background in natural resource issues and knowledge of soil water and wind erosion causes and fixes; henceforth the applicant should have a basic understanding of grant administration, writing, and project management. Education and background in agricultural and working-lands landscapes will be helpful in assisting the CDs. Skills in creating project plans, seeking funding, and securing partner opportunities for CDs to manage and partner on projects within their districts’. Experience in providing technical expertise in various natural resource fields to provide project management and technical assistance on new and existing grant projects, volunteer projects and aide in seeking new funding avenues for addressing natural resource concerns as identified by the CD. Experience and knowledge of Farm bill programs, especially NRCS, and conservation easements is desired, and any prior experience working with Federal, or State agencies or not-for profits is very helpful in partnering opportunities.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in biology, ecology, natural resource management, forestry, parks management, fire management or related field and three years of journey level professional experience in a relevant resource management field that included assisting in developing, formulating, and coordinating programs, policies and procedures; coordinating special grant programs and/or contracts; and coordinating training programs; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
