Position Description

This recruitment will be used to fill multiple vacancies. The Custodial Worker 1 positions are located within Northern Nevada Adult Mental Health Services in Sparks.  The incumbents will perform various tasks related to restroom maintenance; clean and disinfect patient rooms, seclusion rooms, medication rooms, nursing stations, conference rooms, utility rooms, office areas, and various areas related to in-patient and out-patient care; maintain carpets, hard floors, walls, windows, vents, light fixtures, and touchable surfaces; empty trash receptacles; clean trash receptacles; and transport trash to containment areas. Custodial workers are required to perform snow shoveling, spread ice melt and sand, clean entrance and exit ways, assist in moving furniture, and as requested by their supervisor, assist the grounds department, maintenance department, and laundry workers.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent education and six months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of general work experience and six months of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial industrial, hospital, governmental or similar environment; OR six months of experience as a Custodial Worker Trainee in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
