Position Description


Information Technology (IT) Professionals analyze, develop, implement, maintain, and modify computer operations, systems, networks, databases, applications, and/or information security. Incumbents may perform duties in one or more IT specialization areas depending on the needs of the agency.


This position is extremely important in providing critical support for both NOT/DPS and allied agencies communication and electronic systems. This includes installation and maintenance of the Nevada Shared Radio system, existing VHF high band systems, Tele-communication systems, intelligent transportation systems, backbone network systems, mountain top communications, and various other specialty technology projects. Improve safety to public transportation by keeping over all communications and information systems operating at peak efficiency. Incumbents in this position will install evaluate and maintain all department communication facilities and equipment. They will provide administration support for conference setups and divisional needs as a technical expertise resource. candidates will have the ability to maintain accurate records parts ordering develop and assist in budget preparation and monitoring. This position provides Public Information System support to radio, and road reporting systems, provides PC support, provides research and development of new systems in addition to training new system users. This position is required to keep records of service repairs and all inventory. This position is located in Winnemucca, NV.


Incumbents perform journey level duties and may serve as a lead worker to lower level IT staff as assigned. This is a supervisory level for the Computer Operations function.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in computer science, management information systems, or closely related field and two years of progressively responsible professional IT experience relevant to the duties of the position which may include computer operations, systems administration, network administration, database administration, and/or applications analysis and development; OR two years of experience as an IT Professional I in Nevada State service; OR four years of relevant technical experience as an IT Technician IV or above in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.
